Doing 5 times for 5 sets is effective to improve stiff neck and shoulders, headache and tiredness of eyes. There is a patient who has had hearing loss, which I talked about in another article. Her hearing stays good, but in addition to that, her eyes are getting better. She says that she can see things brighter in the colors and sharper in the shape.
The acupuncture point used for her hearing loss is on Large Intestine Meridian and the indication of the acupuncture point is not only for the ear but also for the eye. I think that is why her eyes are also getting better, though the treatment to balance the energy flow of the whole body, needless to say, is absolutely essential. I always ask her to look at some words on the wall and it seems that her vision gets gradually clearer while touching the acupuncture point with a round-tip tool. She is scheduled for checking her eyes in December and is expecting that she can avoid a cataract surgery. The patient had been coming to my clinic for light depression and lack of focus. One day he told me that he also had had a ringing in his left ear for a few years and we started the acupuncture treatment for the ringing in the ear as well. The treatment was retaining needles at the acupuncture points specially for a ringing in ears located on the left side of the head in addition to the whole-body treatment. The interval of the treatments was once a week until the 6th treatment and then every other week until the 10th treatment. There was up and down about the condition of the ringing noise, but gradually decreased and since he said that he hadn’t noticed the ringing noise very much in his daily life at the 10th treatment, the series of treatment for a ringing in the ear ended. I asked him about the noise in his ear when he came for his regular treatments, but it still seemed calm after that so that I didn’t give him the treatment for a ringing in the ear. If you are concerned about a ringing in the ear, how about giving a try to Cozy Acupuncture?

She had had the flu shot 10 days ago and since then, she was not able to raise her left arm due to pain in the area where flu shot had been injected and she felt tingling sensation in all her left fingers the day before. When I checked the area, there were some tender points on the muscle so that the pain was a side-effect of the injection. After the overall treatment, I relieved the pain on the muscle using an acupuncture point around the neck and asked her to raise her left arm. But she couldn’t, so I checked her shoulder again and found painful points in the shoulder joint. It seemed like the pain in the shoulder was not related to the flu shot, but more like simple shoulder joint problem. So I checked her upper back and found a tight point along the shoulder blade. I asked her to raise her left arm with pressing the tight point. This time she could raise her arm. So I tapped the tightness with my tool to loosen the tightness and asked her to raise her arm again. She could raise her arm. According to her, she has had a shoulder problem every year after a flu shot. Could the flu shot tighten the muscles around the neck, shoulder and upper back? Spurling test and Jackson test, which are the examinations to check if there is cervical nerve root compression which cause neck pain, were positive, so I expected that this case would be hard and take long But against my expectation, after the first treatment, both tests were negative and no pain or tingling sensation with the movements of his neck though tingling sensation happened occasionally. At the fourth treatment, there was no tingling sensation, either. When he came back for check-up in 2 weeks, there was still no pain and tingling sensation so that the course of acupuncture treatments ended. At the first treatment, I used a tool, which gave a little strong vibration by tapping, on the tightness around his neck. From the second treatment, I just used touching needle technique with round-tip tools since the tests for cervical spondylosis were negative, but he got better much faster than I expected. Call today to set up your appointment: 617-584-8703 Book now Online Acute low back pain causes strong pain and the limitation of movements, but often gets better easily. A 41 years old man with acute low back pain came to my clinic. He had helped his friend’s move 2 week ago and low back pain had suddenly started 3 days ago. He felt pain in his right low back with slight movements such as bending to the left side, twisting to the left and bending forward. He didn’t have many tender or painful points on right low back, so after general acupuncture treatment, I removed hard knots on his buttocks and asked him to stand up and check his back. There was not much improvement at this point as I expected. I attached a very short needle (about 1 mm) called press-needle on his right low back where the flow of energy was blocked. I asked him to check his low back again. This time the range of motion of his low back got much better and he was surprised. For acute low back pain, only one short needle attached where the energy flow is disturbed is always very helpful. I was using points on the head more often, but in the case that the pain is located lower than knees, it is difficult to hold a needle with my right hand and check whether or not the pain disappears with my left hand because I’m not inserting the needle but just holding it on the skin. I can hear that you are saying I should use acupuncture points in the leg or foot and I can reach both easily. That is right. If I can’t remove pain with a point apart from the painful area, I use a point close to the painful area. But a point apart from the painful area is more effective as long as the pain is not caused by acute injury. “More effective” means the effect lasts long (I’m not the only one saying so but famous masters of acupuncture are saying). That is why I like to use the points on the abdomen, which are reachable and apart from the painful area. A patient came with pain from his right buttock to his right foot. The pain around the right buttock and on the right thigh disappeared after touching a point on his right low back, but the pain on the top of his right foot remained. I touched a point on his abdomen where energy could arrive at the painful point on the top of his right foot. The painful points located between his big toe and the second toe disappeared, but the painful points between 2nd and 3rd toe remained. I touched another point on his abdomen which was about ¼ inch away from the first point, pressed the painful point and asked the patient whether it was still painful or not. There was no pain on the top of his right foot and no pain with any movements which had been causing pain from his right buttock to his right foot before the treatment.
