Aging of a blood vessel is
(1) A blood vessel is clogged. (2) A blood vessel is hardened. Nattokinase is nutrition contained only in natto and dissolves blood clots which are formed in a blood vessel to stop blood flow and causes life-threatening condition like stroke and heart attack. Nattokinase separates blood cells sticking together and also prevents blood clots from being formed. Lecithin prevents the hardening of blood vessels LDL cholesterol which is increased by disordered dietary life and others pushes cholesterol into the inside of blood vessels, forming something like a lump. Blood vessels are originally soft and elastic, but the blood vessel thickened by the accumulation of cholesterol gradually becomes hard. Lecithin contained in the soy part of natto removes LDL cholesterol and prevents the accumulation of cholesterol. Lecithin is the combination of phosphorus and fat which is the same as the main component of brain cells. Acetylcholine which is a neurotransmitter related to the abilities to memorize, think and focus is made of lecithin, so Lecithin contained in natto is also good for the health of brain. Isoflavone contained in natto strengthens blood vessels How to eat Natto to maximize Nattokinase Q1. Which maximizes nattokinase that keeps blood vessels young? (A) Mixing natto well before eating (B) Not mixing natto very much A1. (A) Mixing natto well before eating Mixing natto well increases sticky substance and the sticky substance prevents nattokinase from being lost by stomach acid. The amount of nattokinase is not increased by mixing well, but mixing well increases glycoprotein that protects nattokinase from stomach acid. The proper number of mixing is about 50 times or until threads appear. The sticky substance also protects mucus membranes, so it can be effective to prevent seasonal allergies and a common cold. Q2. Which maximizes nattokinase? (A) Pouring the source for natto before mixing it (B) Pouring the source for natto after mixing it A2. (B) Pouring the source for natto after mixing it If the source for natto is poured before mixing, natto doesn’t become so sticky as when the source for natto is poured after mixing. The taste of natto also gets better by pouring the source after mixing. Q3. Which maximizes nattokinase? (A) Pouring natto on cooled rice (B) Pouring natto on hot rice A3. (A) Pouring natto on cooled rice Nattokinase is weak to heat. Nattokinase becomes inactive at 50 degrees C (122 degrees F) and all the function of nattokinase is lost at 70 degrees C (158 degrees F). Q4. Which is more effective to maximize the effect of nattokinase? (A) Eating natto for breakfast (B) Eating natto for dinner A4. (B) Eating natto for dinner Blood clots that are the natural enemy of blood vessels tend to be formed while sleeping. That is because we can’t supply water even if we sweat while we are sleeping, so the water in blood decreases, making blood sticky. Nattokinase is strong bacteria. Over eating of natto can kill other bacteria. Eating 3 packs of natto a day is too much. Q5. Which can increase nattokinase and lecithin? (A) Eating natto right after taking it out from the refrigerator (B) Eating natto after leaving natto for a while after taking it out from the refrigerator A5. (B) Eating natto after leaving natto for a while after taking it out from the refrigerator Since natto is fermented food, if natto is left at a normal room temperature, fermentation is progressed and nattokinase increases. 20 to 30 minutes is appropriate. A raw egg should not be mixed with natto Natto contains Biotin that is good for the skin. The white of an egg prevents the absorption of Biotin. If you want to use a raw egg to mix with natto, using only the yolk of an egg is better. Scallion and cheese are recommended as toppings for natto Scallion contains Allicin that has the effect to prevent blood clots. Cheese contains Lacto tripeptide that is effective to make blood vessels elastic. Vitamin K2 contained in Natto produces high quality and healthy bones Bones are replaced by new bones every 3 months to 6 months. All the bones in our body are replaced by new bones every 5 years. To deposit calcium in a bone, Osteocalcin that is a type of bone protein is necessary. Vitamin K2 activates Osteocalcin and calcium is firmly deposit in a bone. Recommended intake of vitamin K is 250-300 μg per day. A pack of natto (about 50 g) contains 300 μg of vitamin K. Crushed natto (Hikiwari natto) contain 1.5 times more vitamin K2 than uncrushed natto. Crushed natto has more surface area because it is crushed, so more natto bacteria are attached to it including vitamin K2 (Fig. 1).

Three causes that damage the blood vessel are blood sugar, LDL cholesterol and neutral fat.
Among these three causes, neutral fat is difficult to control with medication. Neutral fat is the source of body fat. If neutral fat increases too much, it is stored as body fat. The cause that increases neutral fat too much is over consumption of carbohydrate including sugar. Carbohydrate is the source of our energy, but the quantity of the muscle decrease with age, the unused energy is left and becomes neutral fat in the blood stream. As a result of that, body fat increases, liver fat can be caused or the risk of cardiac infarction can rise. The difficult point in neutral fat is that neutral fat is easy to store but is difficult to decrease. How can we efficiently decrease neutral fat? Many people in a town in Japan, where Jerusalem artichoke is eaten a lot, have lower neutral fat than the guideline (150 mg/dl). Jerusalem artichoke is rich in inulin which is a type of water soluble dietary fiber. Carbohydrate is usually absorbed from the small intestine and goes into the blood stream. Inulin goes into our body, gets mixed with water and becomes jelly-like state. Jelly-like inulin wraps around carbohydrate and the carbohydrate goes to the large intestine without being absorbed from the small intestine. Inulin becomes feed of intestinal bacteria in the large intestine. On top of that, inulin doesn’t become feed of bad bacteria but becomes only feed of good bacteria. As a result of that, only good bacteria such as Bifidobacteria, Lactic acid bacteria increase in the intestine. Substances produced by good bacteria influence the liver, suppressing the synthesis of neutral fat in the liver. What vegetables are rich in inulin except Jerusalem artichoke? Inulin is one of nutrition that is difficult to extract, so the study of inulin has not proceeded very much all over the world. In this experiment, the amount of inulin contained in 10 kinds of vegetables is measured. Jerusalem artichoke that contains inulin most: 18 g (within 100 g) 1. Garlic: 12.5 g 2. Burdock: 5.4 g 3. Onion: 4.3 g 4. Asparagus: 2.5 g 5. Lotus root: 0.1 g 6. Kabocha squash: 0.1 g 7. Japanese mountain yam: 0.1 g 8. Shishito (sweet green pepper): 0 g 9. Eggplant: 0 g 10. Tomato: 0 g A 47 years old woman whose neutral fat was 152 mg/dl (guide line: 150 mg/dl) and who liked alcohol and carbohydrates tried to take inulin 10 g per day from the vegetables containing a lot of inulin for 5 days without changing usual lifestyle. After the 5 days trial, her neutral fat decreased to 139 mg/ dl. In people aged 18 years or older hypertension (high blood pressure) is defined as a systolic or a diastolic blood pressure measurement consistently higher than an accepted normal value (this is above 129 or 139 mmHg systolic, 89 mmHg diastolic depending on the guideline).
Since high blood pressure causes various complications without noticing any symptoms, it is called a “silent killer”. The major causes of high blood pressure (1) Too much consumption of salt When you take too much salt, salt concentration in the blood becomes too high, so water in the blood increase to dilute the concentration of salt. Increase of water causes higher pressure to the blood vessel, resulting in high blood pressure. (2) Contraction of blood vessel Drinking alcohol, smoking or bad life habits hardens and narrows the blood vessel, pressurizing the blood vessel. Especially, in winter when the temperature is low, the blood vessel contracts, easily leading to high blood pressure. In winter, the temperature difference between inside and outside is quite extreme, so sudden rise and drop of blood pressure easily happens. What is the Food to improve high blood pressure? Effective nutrition for high blood pressure is (1) Potassium which excrete salt from the body Food rich in potassium (per 100 g): Banana: 360 mg Melon: 350 mg “A Food” to introduce in this article: 770 mg (2) Polyphenol which suppresses the contraction of the blood vessel and expands the blood vessel Food rich in polyphenol (per 100 g) Blueberry: 300 mg Red wine: 230 mg “A Food” to introduce in this article: 420 mg The food which was discovered by the latest research (January 2018) as being effective for high blood pressure is Peanuts. 20 pieces of unsalted and roasted peanuts with skin a day are recommended because the thin red skin of peanuts contain a lot of polyphenol. Pickled peanuts are more effective because vinegar contains acetic acid which improves blood flow and expands blood vessel. When you pickle peanuts, any vinegar is fine, but apple cider vinegar is recommended because the taste becomes a little sweet (soak peanuts and vinegar in a sealed container and keep it in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days).
Stiff neck and shoulders happen more in winter.
The major cause of stiff neck and shoulders is the stagnation of blood flow in the trapezius muscle. Th trapezius muscle always support heavy head and arms which weight is 5 Kg each. That is why the trapezius muscle tends to accumulate tiredness, causing the stagnation of blood flow. In winter, there is less chance to sweat and that reduces the metabolism and blood flow becomes poor, causing stiff neck and shoulders. Substance effective to prevent and improve stiff neck and shoulders That is Vitamin E. A fruit contains 3.3 mg/100 g while blueberry contains 1.7 mg/100 g and contains 1.3 mg/100 g. According to an experiment that people whose neck and shoulders are very stiff ate the fruit every day for 10 days, their neck and shoulders became much softer than before eating the fruit. The fruit is Avocado. There are a lot of food which contains vitamin E, but avocado also contains vitamin B1 and B2 which help recover from muscle fatigue. Half of avocado a day is effective to improve stiff neck and shoulders. Avocado also contains oleic acid which smoothens blood flow by reducing cholesterol, so it is effective to prevent hardening of blood vessels and lifestyle-related diseases. According to a study of University of Central Lancashire, when the brains of 10 people who had had Alzheimer’s disease before their death were dissected, a common toxin was discovered from the brains of 4 people.
The toxin is LPS. LPS exist in everybody’s body, but when LPS increases by some reason, inflammation in brain cells or others occurs and the dead brain cells cause dementia. What is the characteristic which increases LPS and heightens the risk of dementia development? People whose LPS has increased emit a distinctive smell from a part of the body. That is halitosis (breath). People whose LPS has increased emit a distinctive gas from the mouth especially when they wake up in the morning. The distinctive smell is a putrid odor like garbage which is the odor of the gas generated when LPS has increased. The number of normal bacteria in the mouth of a healthy person is about 200 billion and if the mouth is not cared, the number is more than one trillion. Some of the bad bacteria such as periodontal disease bacteria emit LPS. What repels LPS? According to a study published in Spain, when honey extract was poured into the cells inflamed by the gas generated by LPS, the inflammation was suppressed by 50 %. The substance which is contained in honey and repels LPS is flavonoid. Flavonoid is mainly contained in plants and has strong antibacterial activity to repel virus and bacteria. There are 4000 kinds of flavonoid such as isoflavone contained in soy, catechin contained in green tea, anthocyanin contained in blueberry. By the latest study, it has turned out that 10 and several kinds of flavonoids contained in honey are especially effective to repel LPS. Flavonoid contained in honey lowers the activity of LPS and restores the cells suppressing the inflammation when going into the body. However, so far the effect of flavonoid contained in honey on human has not been proved yet. Experiment A 78 years old woman whose halitosis was strong (958 (guideline: 26)) and LPS in the blood was 0.004 EU/ml attended the verification. She was feeling that her forgetfulness had been worse lately. She did 2things for 5 days in this experiment. (1) Take a tablespoon of honey at night LPS increases during sleep, so it is effective to take honey at night and a tablespoon of honey is appropriate amount because honey is rich in sugar. (2) Brushing her teeth right after every meal to remove bad bacteria in the mouth After 5 days trial of the above 2 things, her halitosis became 233 from 958 and LPS in the blood became 0.003 EU/ml from 0.004 EU/ml. Her memory was also improved in a test. It is necessary to continue this for a long period of time to see more improvement. Healthy blood vessels are flexible enough to endure blood pressure, but unhealthy blood vessels which have hardening of blood vessels are not flexible enough to endure blood pressure, resulting in rupture of blood vessels. This is aging of the blood vessel. Instant elevation of blood pressure causes the rupture of the blood vessel, causing brain bleeding, rupture of artery that lead to life threatening condition.
According to a recent study, it has turned out that a nutrition helps keep your blood vessel young. The nutrition removes active oxygen which progresses hardening of blood vessels. It has turned out that insufficiency of the nutrition causes the elevation of blood pressure and the progression of hardening of blood vessels by the research using rats. Even if you take sufficient other nutrition which has been said that is good for blood vessels such as EPA, DHA, alpha-linolenic acid, you can’t avoid the aging of blood vessels if the nutrition is not sufficient. What is the most important nutrition to keep your blood vessels young? The essential nutrition to keep our blood vessels young is Zinc. Below are the foods rich in zinc (per 100 grams). Oyster (13.2 mg) Pork liver (6.9 mg) Beef loin (5.8 mg) Cashew nuts (5.4 mg) Almonds (4.4 mg) King crab (4.2 mg) Hari crab (3.8 mg) Processed cheese (3.2 mg) Camembert cheese (2.8 mg) Elderly people tend to be a lack of zinc because the amount of meat they eat decreases and their digestion declines. How to check a lack of zinc Lack of zinc causes abnormality of taste. People with lack of zinc like foods tasting strong better than foods tasting bland. That is why they take more salt before they notice, leading to high blood pressure. Add 3 ear-picks of salt (0.08 grams) to a glass of water (200 ml). When you drink it, if you feel salty taste, you are not a lack of zinc. If you don’t feel salty taste and feel it tastes like plain water, you can have abnormal taste due to a lack of zinc. Even if you don’t feel the salty taste, if you take sufficient zinc, the cells to feel the taste increases and your taste will be restored. 2 Foods to increase zinc in your meals Even if you don’t eat oyster or meat very much, you don’t need to worry about it. (1) Egg yolk Egg yolk contains 4.2 mg of zinc per 100 g. The amount of zinc in an egg yolk is equal to 2 pieces of diced steak. (2) Parmesan cheese Cheese is rich in zinc and among all cheese, parmesan cheese is richest in zinc. Parmesan cheese contains 7.3 mg of zinc per 100 g. The amount of zinc in 2 table spoons of parmesan cheese is equal to 2 pieces of diced steak. Also sesame is rich in zinc, containing 5.9 mg of zinc per 100 g, which is almost equal to beef loin containing 5.8 mg of zinc per 100 g. 10 mg of zinc a day is recommended. The above 3 foods are easy to find and add to your daily meals. A 60 years old woman whose blood vessel age was 70 years old tried to take more zinc through the above 3 foods, and when she checked her blood vessel age a week later, her blood vessel age was 49 years old. Please try to take zinc to keep your blood vessel young. According to a study to compare the risk of the development of Alzheimer’s disease between people in India who use a lot of spices in their meals and people in USA who don’t use spices very much in their meals, people in India had one-fourth the development risk of Alzheimer’s disease of people in USA. What is the difference between India and USA? People in India eat curry a lot. Turmeric used to color curry is expected to prevent dementia. Turmeric is rich in Curcumin that is good for the brain function. Curcumin prevents the substance causing dementia from accumulating in the brain. The substance is called amyloid-Beta and the Accumulation of amyloid-Beta kills nerve cells. Fig. 1 is a brain cell of a mouse and all the black dots are amyloid-Beta. Fig. 2 is a Brain cell of a mouse having eaten curcumin every day for 17 months. There is almost no amyloid-beta. It has turned out that curcumin removes amyloid-Beta and prevents amyloid-Beta from accumulating. When does amyloid-Beta start to accumulate from? Amyloid-Beta starts to accumulate from the age of 50s and dementia is developed in their 70s-80s. People of all ages should eat curry to prevent dementia. If you don’t like curry so much, you can add turmeric to your soup or other dishes.
Fig. 1 shows MRI images of thighs. The left image belongs to 20s female and the right image belongs to 60s female. In the image of 60s female, the muscle decreases and fat increases.
There are a lot of older people who exercise, but if they don’t take “a nutrition” that increases and strengthens the muscle, the exercises go down the drain. A 90 years old person who had to use a wheel chair took the nutrition for 2 months. The weight of his muscles gained by 2 kg (4.4 lbs.) and he became able to walk with a cane. How much exercise goes down the drain if the nutrition is not taken? Experiment 3 people whose age is more than 65 and who always do some exercises attended the experiment to check the amount of the nutrition and their muscle ages. 1. 69 years old male who didn’t take the nutrition sufficiently: his muscle age was 97 years old 2. 73 years old female who took the nutrition sufficiently: his muscle age was 29 years old 3. 79 years old male who took the nutrition sufficiently: his muscle age was 77 years old. The 69 years old male was doing more intensive exercise than other 2 people, but he was not taking the nutrition sufficiently and his muscles was declining. The nutrition that strengthens and increases the muscle is Leucine. Leucine is a type of amino acid contained in protein. However, there are proteins containing a lot of leucine and not containing a lot. Various ingredients such as meat, fish, soy products, cheese, milk contain Leucine, but meats are especially rich in Leucine. But there is a problem about taking Leucine. Elderly people’s bodies are difficult to produce muscles even if they take proteins. According to the research in Toronto University in Canada, to produce the same amount of muscles, people with average age of 71 needed 2 times as much protein as people with average age of 22. The important thing is the timing to take Leucine. The muscle is not strengthened and doesn’t increase unless Leucine is taken at a proper timing. A lot of people tend to take proteins in the evening, but Leucine should be taken for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our muscles repeat synthesis and decomposition. When you take Leucine in the evening, the synthesis of the muscle is progressed during the night and the decomposition of the muscle starts early in the morning. If you don’t take enough Leucine for breakfast, synthesis of the muscle is not progressed and the decomposition starts again. To strengthen and increase muscles, 2 grams of Leucine should be taken for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The 69 years old male whose muscle age is much older than his age had enough Leucine (more than 2 grams) for lunch and dinner, but Leucine for breakfast was not enough. His muscle declined because he had continued dietary life that Leucine was not taken enough in the morning for years. How to supplement the shortage of Leucine Add a glass of milk for your meal! A glass of milk contains 0.6 grams of Leucine. If you think your breakfast doesn’t have enough Leucine, add a glass of milk. To strengthen your legs, take enough Leucine for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and do moderate amount of exercises. |
