People who ate a lot of burnt food tend to have presbyopia (long-sightedness).
Burnt part of food contains AGE which promotes aging. We focus on something by changing the thickness of the lens of the eye. The lens become thicker when we see far objects and the lens become thinner when we see near objects. Presbyopia makes the movement of the lens dull, causing difficulty of focusing. AGE is accumulated in the lens and hardens the lens, making the movement of the lens dull. It is good to eat almonds to reduce AGE. The substance in almonds binds AGE and excretes it from the body. 25 pieces of almonds per day is good amount. In an experiment, eating 25 pieces every day for 6 months reduced AGE by 18 %. Unsalted almonds are desirable not to increase the blood pressure. Walnuts and pistachios are also good.

The eye is the bare organ because the eyes have to see images taking in light unlike other organs such as the lungs or the heart.
What happens if the bare eye is exposed to UV rays during summer? The risk to have cataract becomes higher. There is the data that people who live in an area which latitude is low where are stronger UV rays have more cataract. That is why care is important. In fact, it is said that cataract is a disease that most people experience such as 50% of 50’s, 70% of 60’s and more than 90% of 70’s or above. The lens of the eye absorbs 99.9% of UV rays but this causes cataract. Why do UV rays make the clear lens of the eye white and cloudy? The lens of the eye is something like the white of an egg. The white of an egg is clear when it is raw, but it becomes white when it is heated. Light energy of UV rays is accumulated damaging the lens of the eye, resulting in becoming white and cloudy. The key word for the aftercare of the eyes is Lutein. It can be expected that taking lutein decreases the damage of UV rays during summer, reducing the risk of cataract. Lutein is rich in spinach. The amount of Lutein per 100 g: Broccoli: 1.4 mg Greenpeace: 2.4 mg Spinach: 12.2 mg The efficient cooking method to take lutein is a dish which oil is used. Lutein is soluble in oil so lutein is easier to be absorbed when it is cooked with oil such as spinach and corn sautéed in butter (Fig. 1). The experience of 60 years old male
He often had to work until midnight because of the time difference of the country where the company was trading with. Headache like the head was squeezed occurred accompanying with nausea. He didn’t take it seriously because the headache got better with over-the-counter headache medicine and the nausea got better if he threw up. A year after the headache started, he had a sty on his eye on the day he was going out for dinner with his friend. When his friend saw his eye, he told him to go see a doctor. His friend happened to be an oculist. As a result of the inspection, he had glaucoma (Though the sty on his eye was not related to glaucoma). Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases which results in damage to the optic nerve that transmits visual information from the retina to the brain and vision loss. Vision loss from glaucoma, once it has occurred, is permanent. There are a few types of glaucoma. In his case, it was closed-angle glaucoma which can present gradually or suddenly. The sudden presentation may involve severe eye pain, blurred vision, mid-dilated pupil, redness of the eye, and nausea. In the eye, there is flow of fluid to deliver nutrition or to control pressure within the eye. Because the exit of the fluid becomes narrow or gets clogged, the pressure within the eye increases. In the worst case, there is a possibility of blindness due to the damage of the optic nerve. After he had treatment, the headache and nausea disappeared. Why do headache and nausea occur with glaucoma? It is thought that increased pressure within the eye stimulates the nerves around the eye. The stimulation is transmitted through the trigeminal nerve and the autonomic nerves is stimulated, causing headache and nausea. Other eye diseases accompanying with headache: optic neuritis, uveitis, Scintillating scotoma (visual migraine)
